Rooted in the French art of living, Le Formier embodies an authentic elegance where style, comfort and high standards come together. The brand designs timeless shoes created to accompany everyday life with character and balance. Blending heritage with modernity, every pair expresses a contemporary vision of French style.

Our Craftsmanship

A workshop, a team

Stitching, assembly, quality control… At LE FORMIER, each pair comes to life in our family workshop in the heart of Anjou. Our team of 45 collaborators—pattern makers, stitchers, assemblers and cutters—embody the craftsmanship that defines the richness of French shoemaking. Here, nothing is left to chance. Every pair is created with precision, passion and high standards.

Our commitments

For durable, safe and responsible footwear.

At LE FORMIER, we believe elegance has greater meaning when it is crafted locally, with purpose and conviction.

Made in France

COMMITMENT #1

Since 1945, our shoes have been made in France, in our family-run manufacture located in La Romagne, Anjou. In today’s footwear industry, this choice is far from obvious—it reflects a strong commitment to preserving French craftsmanship, supporting local employment, and offering our customers uncompromising quality.
At every stage of production, more than 45 skilled professionals contribute to shaping each model while respecting traditional techniques. This local manufacturing allows us to ensure consistent quality, strict control and close relationships with everyone involved in the production process.

Sustainable Materials

COMMITMENT #2

To design durable and responsible shoes, everything begins with the choice of materials. At LE FORMIER, we carefully select European raw materials known for their quality, traceability and low environmental impact.

Our leathers come exclusively from European cattle farms, recovered within a circular economy approach. They are chosen for their suppleness, durability, comfort and their ability to age beautifully over time. The tanning process is carried out by Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, ensuring practices that respect both people and the environment.

Whenever possible, we work with local partners. For example, the laces used on our derbies and boots are produced by a workshop located just 10 km from our manufacture. This commitment to proximity and short supply chains helps reduce our carbon footprint while supporting French craftsmanship.

COMMITMENT #3

Beyond style and durability, we are committed to ensuring the health safety of our shoes. That is why LE FORMIER is a signatory of the InnoSHOE charter, a commitment to designing elegant and durable footwear guaranteed to be free from harmful substances.

InnoSHOE is a voluntary safety charter signed collectively by footwear manufacturers. Through this certification, LE FORMIER commits to regularly verifying the compliance of the materials used by conducting testing campaigns with accredited laboratories.

Thanks to this certification, our raw materials are regularly tested by independent accredited laboratories to ensure strict compliance with European health standards. Leathers, textiles, glues, linings and soles are all carefully checked, analyzed and validated.

This commitment is essential to us. It reflects our desire to create shoes that are not only elegant and durable, but also safe—for those who wear them and for those who craft them. Transparency, trust and quality are the values that guide every one of our collections.

Conclusion

Producing differently, to create with greater purpose.

At LE FORMIER, every commitment we make—whether it concerns local manufacturing, the careful selection of materials, or the health safety of our products—stems from a single belief: it is possible to create durable, elegant and responsible men’s shoes while remaining true to our French roots.

Our approach is sincere, progressive and forward-looking. It is built on quality, transparency, proximity and respect at every stage.

What we craft today helps shape the world we walk into tomorrow.
